I'm not sure what it is about children's photography...but I just love it! I felt these photos from Babiekins Magazine by Hailey Faria fit perfectly into my message this week. There are days when I take a break from all cell phone and social media activity. Believe me, it's amazing what this will do for your creativity! One of those designated days was yesterday. However, I broke my "no cell phone use" vow when my phone illuminated with an Instagram notification. A username that I had not seen before popped up on my screen along with the messaged "...liked your photo". I assumed it would be an ordinary notification, but I was very wrong. When I realized who the person was that had liked the photo, it hit me like a bus and I completely froze...blinking about 20 times to make sure I was reading the name correctly. I had done a small sketch at work one day, a small study on paper from one of my favorite painter's work, Michael Carson. I posted it to instagram a while back with a #michaelcarson to follow in the caption. I never in a million years expected for him to find it, considering his level of achievement in the art world. I just wanted to give him recognition. You can see below.....he did find it. I may or may not have silently screamed with excitement from the front desk at my gallery girl job. ...I may have. Just when I thought the chances of a renowned artist like Michael Carson seeing a thumbnail sketch of mine were practically impossible, I was completely humbled and reminded of just how connected our world is...and full of possibility. We all have dreams and goals that we work toward and keep hope for. No matter how far along we are in our journey to success and whatever that may look like for each of us, we can all relate to each other. We are made to thrive, and I believe we can only do it together. Little does Michael know, that through a simple "like" of a photo, he planted a seed of encouragement & inspiration yesterday for a girl in Sarasota, FL. Michael, thank you. You rock. xoxo Alexa

We are in a time and living in a world where labels seem to have become more valuable than the person wearing them. Tonight, I'm cleaning out my mental closet and getting down to the heart of it. Tomorrow, let's wake up wearing the power of peace, love, kindness, and compassion for one another...but even more than this...let's do it for the world.
