As I magic-erasered the banister, meticulously scraping off what I can only imagine were little kid boogers and fingerprints, I couldn't help but to find humor in seeing it all as endearing. We were finally moved in and unpacked into our next temporary home. As the final rooms were being defined by furniture, I was reminded of the value of ample studio space. (It's that moment when you realize you would rather sleep on a legless futon so that your canvases can have a room all to themselves.) Truth.
Setting up a new space can be sacred; even an act in faith if you think about it. You are creating a space for a specific purpose. In that space, you allow yourself to learn, grow, fail, and conquer. The things you have experienced up until that very moment are brought to the table, and you are now making room for those unknown present and future moments. It's exciting!
...Call me crazy, but I think about
Looking back, I can think of times in my life when options seemed limited, or when I had no idea how things were going to work out. It's just like the Avicii song says, "I tried carrying the weight of the world, but i only have two hands." Maybe it's the fear of not being able to piece it all together ourselves. All I know is that when I refuse to fear the next step and just jump out in faith, great things happen.
It feels like you're free-falling, being propelled forward.
And the fear part ...
the fear is a liar.
Each week I see just how many unique visitors view my blog and website, and so I want to thank you for your support and taking the time. I've stepped away from blogging for a few weeks now, but I will be back at it very soon! Once the task of packing boxes and moving my life to the next town over is finally complete... There will be a new series of artwork in the making! I'm full of ideas, so stay tuned! Have a great week ❤️
