'tis the season for buying art!I have been HOARDING loads of artwork from Highschool, College, and a couple from recent months. Friends and family have inquired over the years about buying my work, but gallery prices aren't always the most affordable and I realize that. So I'm making affordable prices possible through Saatchi Art!

California is the new home to a new series of artwork in the making; an edgier and bolder body of work. Here are some progress shots... hope you enjoy! Happy Saturday <3 "Do YOU." xoxo Alexa Happy Saturday! It's been quite a while since I've posted. Hand and Feet Studies done in umber pencil, the set was gifted to me from my wonderful Matthew ❤️🤗
![]() Here's to another year of opportunities and blessings to you! :) Starting a new piece this week and decided to try a solid color for the background. I'm finding that the longer I use acrylic paint (especially for flesh tones), the more I miss my oils! They blend so well and allow for more time to work with multiple colors at once. The best part about enjoying both types is that both mediums can be married into one piece together, simply by layering one before the other...acrylic as a base, then oil on top. What a great thing! Mixing in slow-dri fluid blending medium with the acrylic alone allows me to get that oil-like feel and consistency. I'm looking forward to incorporating some water-soluble oils with upcoming pieces!

Banksy...has it "going on" with this quote. Feeling like the last time I blog posted was only a few weeks ago really shocked me when I realized that it had actually been 2 months. 'Goodness gracious', I thought. 'What have you been doing, Alexa?' The answer is: Living life...and resting! Resting doesn't mean being a couch potato...although it is really nice sometimes to kick up your feet and do nothing! "Rest" can be defined as "recovering strength". How powerful is that? |
Last year I made a trip to Miami to check out some of the art shows downtown. Artists and Galleries from across the globe join to exhibit their work. There is so much to see that I recommend spending 2 or 3 days to see atleast 4 of the venues, and book hotels early early early! This year, the must-see list included Red Dot, Spectrum, Art Basel, and SCOPE. Red Dot and Spectrum were definitely my favorites of the 4 for 2016. |
I have a tendancy to tell myself to "get it together" or "work faster"...becoming my own personal drill sargeant in my head. NO BUENO! There are the "hustlers" out there that push themselves even harder than most, and especially when they're tired. I commend those that can, but that just doesn't work for me. So instead of becoming overwhelmed and quitting altogether, I'm learning to rest; rest my mind and feed on things that are good, like inspirational art shows in Miami ;) |
